How Target screwed me out of $425

On May 26th I went to my local Port Saint Lucie Target Store and purchased a new 250GB XBOX360 bundle with game (Final Fantasy).

When I got home, I anxiously opened the new system. I couldn't wait to get a glance at that new massive 250GB HDD. Imagine my disappointment when I saw this:

Well, that sucks. I'm guessing that this was a previously returned item that got restocked. So it's back to the store to exchange it for the correct model. The store (#2248) refused to exchange the item and also discovered that the game wasn't included either. They informed me that I would have to call Target Corp.

After calling Target Corp, they informed me that I would have to call the manufacturer. So I contacted Microsoft and they said that the system I was sold had been previously activated by a different customer and that the system was also banned from XBOX Live for a Terms of Use Violation. They informed me that it was a problem that would need to be resolved with the retailer, since they were the ones that sold me a previously owned system as NEW.

I went to a different Target store to see if they could do a better job of helping me. They informed me that I would have to go back to the store it was originally purchased and try to get it exchanged there again. They also noticed that the controllers were missing their battery covers and that the serial number on the box and the serial number on the XBOX correctly matched, but that store #2248 forgot to scan the serial number in when they sold it to us, and that they were required to scan in the serial number on every XBOX sold. Which conveniently eliminates proof that we aren't trying to pull a fast one. This is starting to look very suspicious.

Jun-3-2010: They finally got back to me and let me know there is nothing they are going to do for me. I've been officially SCREWED out of $425 by Target.

LATEST UPDATE: TARGET #2248 Finally gave me a refund, after 6 phone calls, 3 trips to the store, decals added to my car and giving Target Corp. this website URL.
Now that the issue has been resolved, I will take the decals off my vehicle.
